Runners’ Services

Runners’ Services Volunteers

Positioned throughout the venue ready to answer any questions our guests may have, Runner Services Volunteers are the official event ambassadors on race weekend. Volunteers can expect a race handbook answering all the frequently/not so frequently asked questions!  When the race is done, Runner Services Volunteers will direct participants to post race events.

• What are my responsibilities and what will I be doing?

Your number one responsibility as a Runner Services volunteer is to make sure the runners and their friends/family are enjoying themselves!  However, there are different responsibilities for each Runner Services volunteer depending on your location.  Volunteer duties for the Runner Services volunteers include, but are not limited to, answering race-related questions for runners and their friends/family and providing top rate concierge services!

• Do I have to bring anything?

You will receive your free volunteer t-shirt when you check-in on race day, but please bring or wear another t-shirt to change into after your shift ends. Do not bring cameras or other valuables with you to your assignment. Run for the Dream is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

• What should I wear and what happens if it rains?

Please dress casually and comfortably.  You may want to dress in layers, as it is typically cooler in the morning and warmer in the afternoon.  Wear comfortable shoes. Please make sure you dress appropriately in the event of inclement weather.  We will make every effort to continue the race activities as planned.

• Where do I park?

Please park at the William & Mary Parking Garage located on Kingston. A parking pass can be downloaded here.

• Do I check in with anyone?  If you are parking in the William & Mary Parking Garage

When you exit the parking garage, you will find the volunteer check-in station.  Please check-in here and you will receive walking directions to the Runner Services location.  Once you arrive at the start line or Post Race Bash, please check-in again at the Information tent.  You will receive further instruction concerning your responsibilities at the Info tent.

• Where do I park?

Please park in the parking lots around the Woodlands Conference Center.

• Do I check in with anyone?  If you are volunteering at Woodlands Conference Center.

Please enter the Woodlands Conference Center and the volunteer check in will be to your right.

• What do I get for my efforts?

As a volunteer, you will receive quite a few benefits including: 1) Even if you are not running, you can still be a part of the fun! 2) A free Volunteer T-Shirt and commemorative challenge coin! 3) You get the satisfaction of helping others! 4) You’ll have a great time and meet new friends!

• Can I bring a friend?

While we certainly don’t discourage additional helpers, it is important for all of our volunteers to register online (www.runforachievabledream.com/volunteers) prior to the event.  If your friend(s) has not registered as a volunteer prior to the event, please do not bring him/her.

• Can I bring my kids?

Please do not bring children with you as we cannot be responsible for them, they will interfere with you carrying out your responsibilities, and they will be prohibited from entering secured areas.

• What do I do if there is a problem?

If at any time during your assignment you have a problem, please notify me immediately.
