Run for the Dream accepting registrations

Registration has opened for the second annual Run for the Dream half marathon and 8K run/walk on May 19 and May 20 in Williamsburg.

Registration for the Fit to Dream 8K run/walk is also open.  The cost before Dec. 31 is $45. The cost after Jan. 1 is $50. The 8K run has been designated the 2012 USA Masters 8K National Championship by USA Track and Field for the second year in a row.

Following the 8K will be a Kids Fun Run with a choice of three lengths. The lengths are a 100-meter sprint, 400-meter dash or a 1-mile run.

Those who register for the marathon before Jan. 1 will get $10 off the registration price. The price for the marathon before Dec. 31 is $80. The price after Jan. 1 is $90. Active-duty military can register for $45 and wounded military can register for free. The marathon will be held May 20.

The first 3,000 registrants will receive a free day pass to Busch Gardens to be used sometime between May 18 and May 20.

The races start on the campus of The College of William  and Mary and wind through the Williamsburg Historic Area until it finishes at William and Mary's Zable Stadium.

Proceeds from the runs will benefit An Achievable Dream, a nationally recognized K-12 school dedicated to the belief that all children can learn and succeed.
