1. What is the time and date of the Run for the Dream Half Marathon?

4. What are the dates for future races? 
We will always aim for the race to be the 3rd weekend of May, after William & Mary graduation and before Memorial Day.  To that end, possible future race dates are May 18-19, 2013 and May 17-18, 2014.

5. What will the weather be like in Williamsburg in May?
May in Williamsburg has an average high of the lower 70s and an average low of around 60 degrees. The humidity factor can get as high as 80%.  Please pre-hydrate before the race and wear appropriate clothing to be prepared for the heat – visors, sweat-wicking materials and socks.

6. What is the official charity of the Run for the Dream?

7. What changes have been made to the course since the 2011 race? 
The 8K course remains exactly the same.  The half marathon course has been slightly altered – just before mile 5, runners will turn into the Quarterpath Shopping Center and circle the parking lot, where there will be TowneBank’s fun water station.  This will allow vehicular traffic safely in and out of the shopping center, and will be a great place for spectators to cheer on the runners!

8. Where should I get my carbs the night before the race?
There are many great restaurants in Williamsburg to visit! Be sure to check out the Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association’s Dining Guide (http://www.williamsburgarearestaurants.com/) where you can see all the options and make reservations for race weekend.

Registration
1. How many participants will you accept?  The 8K and the half marathon will be capped at 4,000 runners each.

2. Do I need a qualifying time to be eligible? No.

3. How will the race be timed?  Granite State Racing is the official timer.  A chronotrack “B-tag” will be affixed to your bib when you pick it up.  Please affix your bib with safety pins to your shirt chest before the race, and you are ready to go!

4. What is the minimum age for a race participant? There is no age minimum for the Run for the Dream events. However, a parent or guardian signature is required on registration for participants under the age of 18.

5. When will I receive my bib number? You will receive your bib number at the Run for the Dream Expo.   See Expo website for additional details.

6. Once I’m registered, can I switch races? Yes. Please email info@RunForAchievableDream.com to do so.

7. How do I know if I’m registered? You can check if you are registered by going to www.RunForAchievableDream.com and searching race entrants. To access this, click the Entrants button at the top of the page and then enter your name to search for yourself.

8. Can I transfer my registration to another runner? Yes. You may transfer your registration to another runner. To do so please e-mail info@RunForAchievableDream.com.

9. What is the race’s cancellation/refund policy? We are accepting cancellations and offering refunds up until May 1st. After this time, registrations are not refundable. Special circumstances will be taken into account – email info@RunForAchievableDream.com.

On the Course
9. Where can I find a course map? A course map can be found at www.RunForAchievableDream.com/Half-Course-Map for the half marathon and www.RunForAchievableDream.com/8k-Course-Map for the 8km.


10. Are iPods allowed?
Yes.  Please keep your volume low and remain alert to your surroundings for your safety and that of those around you.

11. What can I expect at water stations?
There are eight water stations on the half course and two for the 8K.  Each water station will offer water and Gatorade, and there will be portable toilets available at each water station.

12. Where will portable toilets be located?
P.T. banks are available at the start, finish, and post-race bash. They will also be at every water station along course.

13. What are the time limits for the races?
The half marathon time limit is 4 hours. The 8K limit is 90 minutes.  Both of these time limits are an 18 minute/mile pace.  Runners falling behind this pace will be asked to move to the sidewalks.
 
14. Can I walk the race? 
Walkers who can meet and maintain the 18 min/mile pace are welcome in the 8K!  The half marathon is a challenging course and best for experienced participants due to the distance, rolling hills and longer exposure to the heat and humidity.

15. Are the races corralled? Can I switch corrals?
Yes, corrals will be based on the pace times that runners submit when they register.  You can always move backwards in the corrals.  Moving up will be at the discretion of race staff and corral monitors.  If you’d like to change your pace time before the race, please email info@RunForAchievableDream.com

16. Can I run with my child during the Fun Run?
Yes!  Parents or friends may join younger children in the Fun Run One Mile as long as they do not impede any other participants in the race.
